Throughout the history of Mesopotamian culture, the Tigris River has witnessed the rise and fall of great civilizations, who come to its banks in search of a refuge and a starting point. Water has become the element that carries the history of the place, but also purifies, cleans and renews it. Water is the beginning and the end.

Under this premise, the concept of The WaterGirls arises. A project that appropriates the purifying nature of water and that understands this element in its different states and forms, to build a program around it, with the firm intention of conceiving a safe and restorative space for girls who are victims of the conflict.

Therefore, "The Watergirls" project understands that each space must be accompanied by water, which is why gadgets arise that allow altering the state of this element depending on its activity. Impluvium, for rest; mirror of water, to capture the sky; oasis, for fun; a simple channel next to the road, for the direction and finally the floodable terraces, like the trail left by the passage of time in the project.

The watergirls understands the context in which it is carried out, so material, social and environmental sustainability prevails. Making use of the materials of the place and its construction techniques, as well as the use of the vegetation of the context.

Water is the element that connects and brings together each part of the project, but beyond that, it is the element through which girls can continue their life cycle and reintegrate in a correct way into society.
